Swedish supermodel Paulina Porizkova reports that she was bullied mercilessly throughout her childhood.  Of course some females can be jealous of other women they see as more attractive, successful/whatever, but it's not the norm, certainly not in my experience.

Obviously, social media will highlight those stories of mean girls. The females (millions of them) who are not bullied, won't bother telling social media they are NOT bullied, will they?

Maddog, you have pretty daughters, an attractive girlfriend, an ex wife,  did they act like that to other women.

Considering you are surrounded by women, you seem to have a really bad opinion of us.

This is my brief take on it. Women can be lovely to each other  in general and definitely stick up for each other in real life. I think on forums where there is anonymity and women (and men) can say whatever they want without fear of repercussion a woman will be singled out for being different, the biggest reason is if she is viewed to be promiscuous.

Below is a link to an article that discusses women's attitudes to women they consider promiscuity  in detail but for those who don't want to read in detail there is a small tidbit below.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/insight-is-2020/201309/women-who-hate-other-women-the-psychological-root-of-snarky

Vrangalova and colleagues (2013) found that female college students were less likely to want to be friends with another female who was seen as sexually promiscuous when compared to the rate for male college students who wanted to be friends with a promiscuous male peer. The study showed that the women clearly noticed the promiscuous woman and also had negative beliefs about her as a result.

I think this is true for the most part. I don't intend to labour the point but when I had stopped being a tit with my avi 's (possibly not the best choice of words)but the insults were flying and my home and partners picture were being posted NO women said things were going too far except Rags ,Syl and Canary. The men who did stick up for me were accused of being perv's and things were made up about them to get them banned  (not on here)

The nastiest part of the whole horrible mess was someone from Dogs  pretending to wonder aloud if I had Downs Syndrome. I'm not saying I was innocent but the point pertaining to the thread is we have an experiment here really proving that women REALLY don't like promiscuous women. Thankfully that's in the past and I understand  I was to blame also but I can.easily understand girls in school receiving similar treatment being very upset indeed.

I think you got a hard deal way back then, and I did try to tell you when you first came on Mickys forum (yep, I have a really good memory on some things)  that posting the pics up, on a forum that was clearly not a copping off site, was a bad idea.

That was at the very beginning Fluffy, and as you know all too well, things escalated and women AND men, had made up their minds about you.

Added to that were the forum horrors who always delighted in making things worse, and back then there were quite a few around ...  You really couldn't win, and I think you were right to give it all a break. Like you also say, some of it was tit for tat, and thankfully, that's all in the past.

It's not only promiscuity though, on forums, people can be cruel and horrible. I know of a few who left because of the bullying, usually women, but the bullying of the women was often done by the males. I could name them, but I won't, it's all in the past.

Both Digger and I, and no doubt many others, have had a hard time on some  forums, usually about age, and I have been called old and decrepit more times than I care to remember, but having seen the pics of the ones who called me that, I can honestly say I think were just self deflecting.wink

Addressing promiscuity, I worked in nightclubs for years, one place had a couple of high class call girls (unbeknown to the management) as regular customers. They didn't do business from there, they used the club as a place to relax when they were not working. Most of the female staff knew what they did, I don't recall any woman judging them, we all liked them.

I have had a couple of promiscuous friends, their lifestyle isn't mine, and it never was even when I was young and single, but personally, it didn't alter my friendships with them, they were adults.

In my experience, women tend to judge more when a single woman comes on the scene, but it's usually the ones who can't trust their husbands.

I don't remember you warning me! But you refused to get involved and I always remembered and appreciated that. nod

You may have a point that the promiscuous label was used as an  excuse by people who had been on forums for a long time to just be horrible. And yes without mentioning names a few men definitely enjoyed throwing stones from their prospective greenhouse. Then some joined another forum and sent pm's wanting to talk to me..bored

It's certainly a lesson in how people can act when anonymity hides their behaviour people can really descend into mob mentality. But that's the past and I learnt from it. People did try to help me but I thought I knew best ..!

I don't judge promiscuous women (but then I would be a bit silly if I would) Cruel people I can't stand as there's no need for it.

I'm not surprised you don't remember, it must have been about 13 years ago...maybe more.
Forums were nasty back then, and I agree, cruelty, especially when hiding behind a laptop, along with bullying and tag teaming, is horrible....and cowardly.

My recollection’s a bit hazy, but I do know I’ve had some depraved shite thrown at me too. 3 posts have always stuck in my mind though, simply because of the level of degenerate thinking it took for that person to post them.

(in a thread about things we wish we could do better) “How to keep a husband alive?”

(in a thread about animals) “I’ve often wondered what it must be like to shag a horse. Tell us.”

and….”I hope your Infiniti slides off that mountain, and hits every rock all the way down to the bottom.”

I don't generally like the "women are their own worst enemies" trope as it comes across as gaslighting sometimes - women cannot trust their emotional or intellectual response to a given situation and therefore need the guidance of someone else (usually a man or a woman who thinks male traits are elevated) to work things out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting point, one that raises the frequent, but mistaken belief that thinking is somehow superior to feeling when it comes to assessing a situation. By thinking I mean weighing up alternatives and coming to a decision (predominantly a male trait?), by feeling I mean the sensation of knowing whether something is right or wrong, favourable or unfavourable (predominantly female?)

Both are equally rational behaviours, and one is no 'better' than the other. Both work. But I guess that for someone who always resorts to thinking, and for someone who always resorts to feeling, the other function will remain underdeveloped.

Or, if we look at it another way, the distinction between thinking and feeling is artificial and they are both forms of information processing which help us reach decisions.

There is interesting research which shows the Brain / gut connection and emotions that arise are our bodies guiding us in what we should do - trust your instincts, my gut instinct said not to do it, I felt it in my bones and so on. I'm sure we all know people who came to very good decision even though it didn't seem to make much rational sense at the time because although they couldn't consciously articulate why they knew what the right course of action was.

It may be that the best approach is one which marries both head and heart. The difficulty comes in when they conflict!

When they conflict it might be better to go with the heart, because if you don't it might keep niggling away at you long afterwards.

As an aside, another kind of thinking can take you down the wrong path - I mean when someone has a thought that pops up in their head, and assumes it to be true, simply because they thought it. Thinking isn't the same as knowing.

For instance 'I think it's going to rain'. 'I think Diana was assassinated'. 'I think there must be intelligent life elsewhere in the universe' - and so on.

Sometimes a person will fight tooth and nail to defend their own ideas, as if they're protecting their own beloved children.

Please Fluffy and Vam, move on from all this.

“The past is the past” is Fluffy’s favourite phrase but here she is yet again wallowing in it.  Any excuse to bring it up and right perceived wrongs from 15 years ago.  It might not be a call-out thread but it’s close enough! I’m afraid I don’t believe she’s properly over it, which is sad. It’s all there just under the surface for all to see.

I’m sorry to be frank but it’s words on a screen now and it was words on a screen then.  Boo hoo.
