😂😂😂  Depends how you define ‘oldies‘. I‘m not sure I qualify just yet, but I’m sure getting there fast! 

I never read books online, because I prefer holding a book in my hands and the physicality of page-turning.

On the rare occasion I travel these days, I still use a concierge service I’ve used for years to make all the bookings for me.

But handwriting would be my undoing scruffy I’m ashamed to admit I honestly can‘t recall when I last wrote anything meaningful by hand, beyond scrawling my name in a card or to sign something.

These days, my handwriting looks like a spider on crack cocaine made its way across the paper. Thank gawd for WhatsApp Chat Groups!

There has been a radio phone in this morning about AI and does the rapid advancement of it worry you. and if so, in what way?.
I had to turn it off. People were saying, 'I don't use it.' so it doesn't worry me at all'.
I think people don't realise just how embedded it is now in society.

Can you imagine the fake news that could be spread globally? It could start wars overnight.
No one has actual cash now, everyone's money is locked in banks. Can you imagine if AI decided to take over the banking systems...what would we have to barter with?
The NHS uses AI a lot and intends to involve it even more in the near future...that could be fun if it went 'rogue'.bored

 

Like I said to Mags, I don't have the brainpower to understand how quickly it could go wrong. It will start somewhere with human intervention, either deliberate or not, but I do have the brainpower to see it could all go horribly wrong somewhere down the line.

They are calling it a new silicone species, which seems to be a far greater threat than any alien species...and it's all man made.booyahcry

I was reading about the silicone species earlier - Anthropic are humanising their AI by adding emotional and identity structures, and also letting it earn money and own assets. AI earning money LoL.

These AI creators are obviously super intelligent, but are also super stupid at the same time.

The response from AI companies to the growing fears appears to be no more than 'trust us to get it right', and that AI has to be subservient to humans. The obvious major flaw in AI being subservient to humans is that rogue nations and terrorist groups are run by humans. That doesn't seem to have come into consideration though.
