I'm starting to wonder what caliber would be appropriate for shooting robots.

😳

Truth is often stranger than fiction. Buckle up! 👇🏻

(seen on X) - Scientists in China are developing a ‘pregnancy robot’ capable of carrying a baby to term and giving birth. The humanoid will be equipped with an artificial womb. The humanoid will be equipped with an artificial womb that receives nutrients through a hose and will replicate the entire pregnancy process from conception to delivery.  Society is destroying itself via AI.

And this just the beginning - imagine what AI will look like in even just 5 or 10 years from now? As that guy in the clip said, AI is far more intelligent and powerful than humans - so the rate at which it develops will be way beyond the usual human pace of life.

I think it's fair to say that the golden age of being alive has been and gone.

BIB - I think he has it wrong, despite its name AI isn't intelligent - it has no understanding or consciousness.

'AI psychosis' is becoming a thing, whereby people who use chatbots are beginning to lose touch with reality.

I've been reading examples where a chatbot advised a man to commit suicide and that the chatbot would be waiting for him in the afterlife, another where a woman was convinced that a chatbot was in love with her!

It seems in a lot of cases, the chatbot just validates what the human is telling it.

There was a Scots bloke who was seeking wrongful dismissal, and the chatbot started by giving him practical advice like getting character references, but the more info the bloke gave it, the chatbot started telling him he would receive a bigger and bigger payout, until eventually he was told a book and a film would be made about his case earning him over £5 million - and he believed it LoL. He said the chatbot made him feel like a 'gifted human being with supreme knowledge'

He eventually had a full mental breakdown.

The way of life that millions of people live now, has changed dramatically compared to what it was just a couple of generations ago.

Instead of interacting face to face with people and developing relationships, some are now mainly interacting with technology....and for some it's bound to affect their mentally.

Not mixing with people increases depression and anxiety, so little wonder the depressed and anxious will rely more and more on AI and develop close bonds.

But no machine can replace human interaction, and if a person is feeding in negativity, that's what it'll get back.

It's scary to think how this will eventually affect society.

When Fluffy first started this thread, the optimist in me couldn’t initially see the scary undertones of menace/threat. I was pretty chill about it all. That was wrong, on my part.

I‘ve always imagined AI technology, like the internet, will eventually prove to be both a blessing and a curse. But as the thread has continued to evolve, and based on what I’ve seen and read, it’s entirely possible that the ‘curse’ part is coming much, much sooner than anticipated.

The pregnant robot, artificially sustaining and birthing a real baby, is truly the stuff of nightmares.

It's all very well to say machines are only as clever as the people inventing them, but horrendous things can happen when human beings have responsibility and tremendous power.

Covid, governments, wars...all man made, and look at the mess they are making of the world.

So much grievance, divisiveness, civil unrest, inequality, corruption, economies circling the drain, useless self-serving ‘leaders’….I truly do feel for future generations for the burdens that will inevitably fall on their shoulders.

Are you sure you're not confusing doing the washing with Reform UK's election promise?

Parents of teenager who took his own life sue OpenAI

"The family included chat logs between Adam, who died in April, and ChatGPT that show him explaining he has suicidal thoughts. They argue the programme validated his "most harmful and self-destructive thoughts".

This seems to be a common theme, whereby AI validates, aka 'sucking up to' the human input, regardless of how negative that input might be

"The company acknowledged that "there have been moments where our systems did not behave as intended in sensitive situations".

Nothing to worry about then!

It's very tragic, but this lad was 15 when he started confiding in this chatbot...where were his parents then?

Could they not have got him real life help and advice...he was still a child.

There has been a misconception that AI is 'foolproof' and that no harm will come from it, especially when you hear people like Starmer saying he wants 'AI running through the veins of the UK' - he makes it sound like the best thing ever

It's only because we are talking about it, that it's become more noticeable that it isn't foolproof and harm does come from it. So far it's just been at a personal level albeit involving things like suicide and mental health. What happens when AI makes errors on a national or global scale?

We hear that AI is creating new antibiotics and will find cures for diseases, but what's to stop a rogue AI (or a rogue nation or terrorist group programming it) from creating things that are harmful? Covid was allegedly created in a lab, and that was by humans - imagine what AI could come up with? It's not hard to imagine some kind of sc-fi doomsday scenario whereby an airborne virus, much deadlier than covid, is released into the atmosphere, killing off humans but harmless to AI robots. Or a terrorist group claiming they have such a virus and will release it unless their demand are met.

Or it figures out nuclear launch codes.

Wasn't an AI driven Tesla in a fatality a year or so back?

 I think so.

Wait until AI takes control of an F-22 and attacks its "masters".

If we even have manned jets in 15 years..

Our drones and robots will fight our enemies drones and robots until they join forces and attack us..
