Robots would make good fighting machines, no empathy, hesitation or second thoughts
I'm surprised they haven't been put to use in that way before now.

If some of the posts in this thread are to be believed - give it time…

I meant he's like a robot.  No empathy!

They sort of have. A drone is basically a flying robot. But up to now, they need a human controller.

We have thousands of drone "pilots" in Nevada that never leave the ground, but can control a drone over Yemen.

Maybe the time is already here when, instead of having a human operating the drone, robot, whatever, they input the information, then leave the machine to work things out for themselves. That would be the logical step forwards.

Yes. A comment she made on another thread about her OH was a bit troubling.

I hope she’s okay, and just taking a break.

 I hope so too.

If Fluffy reads here, and I know she did a  few days ago, she is welcome to pm if she doesn't feel like posting.

Also...wherever Vicky is, hopefully everything is OK with her too.

nod Yep. Vic too, of course.

I kinda miss trying to pronounce the Scottish dialect words she comes up with.

Didn't you try emailing her a while back?

I did, and there was no reply. Maybe the email we had here was an old one, maybe not used now.

Regarding the fallibility of AI  - it can get even the simplest stuff wrong so don't believe everything it comes up with. For instance, I was curious to know the rate of drug-related deaths in the US.

Here's what Google's AI told me!

AI Overview

The U.S. drug overdose death rate was 32.8 deaths per 100,000 people in 2023, which is equivalent to 3,280 deaths per million people.

I'm glad to see that AI hasn't started thermonuclear global war in the time I have been away on holiday.

Personally, I think many people are over-estimating what AI can achieve in the near future and investors may start thinking they has wasted a lot of money on what could be a tech bubble. Of course AI has a lot of potential applications which could be dangerous in the future which we should keep an eye on.

It's thoughtful of you to think of me Vam, thank you xx.🌺 I was not ignoring you yesterday, I have only just seen the comments on this thread.

Yes my OH was certainly not helping but I just have times when I feel down. I thought you would all enjoy the peace and quiet . I also turned 43 xr(being a Leo I am an August birthday) which I didn't particularly enjoy but that's ok as I am actually going to be 35 forever from now on.

Hope all is well with you also 🤗
