Just bought this for going out for dinner next week....not sure what shoes to wear, I can't wear heels like the model is wearing nowadays...maybe purple suede ankle boots?

There is a high Street shop called Roman, I dont usually see anything my style in there, but this caught my eye.

I’m not generally into dresses as I tend to wear jeans and Cat boots the majority of the time but that is pretty. I can’t recommend any shoes, sorry, as I’d automatically go for knee high stiletto boots with that dress.

(the hem line is very Stevie Nicks to me, love it).

I would love to still wear knee high stiletto boots, and I agree, they would look good with the dress.
It was the rise and fall hem that made me love the dress, and the pattern, and the material too...it's quite heavy, good for colder nights out.

How about toe covered wedged espadrilles or are they still too high, or do you need something flat as in completely flat?

I am living in flats at the moment,  mainly Sketchers, but I don't like those, or trainer styles with dresses, even though they are in fashion.

I am looking at a pair of light purple suede ankle boots, about a 2'' thick heel....not very practical, but they are nice.

Lovely dress nod I like the neckline and the 3/4 length sleeves.

BIB 👍🏻….or, failing that, how about pearl grey or caramel-y beige suede ankle boots? I saw those colours when I zoomed in for a closer look at the dress.

Saw some nice ones on Amazon, if that helps 👇🏻

(sorry about all the edits - the site’s a bit glitchy for me this morning 😂)

They are similar in style to the old fashioned Chelsea boot style, and I like them a lot. These are the ones I have my eye on. They have a side zip, less faffing about.

nod Yep, I can see them now. Thanks, Syl.

Really great colour and the stitching looks quality, too. I‘d sure wear them, say, with cropped ankle-length black jeans.

We all have differing tastes. For me personally, a dress like that would need something just a little more fancy. Maybe suede flats/ballet pumps in that gorgeous lilac shade. Or some flat-heeled knee-length lilac suede boots. (Had a look, and I’ve seen some on Amazon)

You might be right...I have just ordered them so I will soon know. If they are Too clumpy I will wear them with dressy leggings or crops, probably save them for nights out. I have a gorgeous Butler and Wilson purple beaded bag...so I can definitely match them up with other outfits.

I bet I will wear my new  black Mary Janes next week.... (it's OHs birthday meal out with family)  I have worn them a couple of times, so comfy, they are good for dancing too, which I am intending to do a bit more of now. happy

Vam, would you ever wear trainers with a dress in the evening?
Not sure what the fashions are in Spain, but everywhere I go I see women of all ages wearing quite clumpy looking trainers with nice dresses at night time.

It's not a look I would go for....but it's definitely fashionable here.

From a bloke's POV, it should be illegal for women to wear anything other than 4 inch stiiletoes - but obviously that isn't always practical.

The alternativess are kitten heels, wedgies or trainers.

Flatties are a huge NO  - they have the opposite affect of heels, and make a woman look dumpy and sloth-like as opposed to being sexy and feline.

Cheap trainers are also a big NO. Splash out on quality trainers - I would recommend Nike Air Max 95s - they will cost you £150 to £175 but are worth every penny, and will look good with any dress, jeans, shorts, whatever

The golden rule with trainers is dark colours for men and light colours for women - I'll find a few pics

Lol...I think most men love women in stilettos, and  I agree, they do look great....unfortunately, two knee replacements, one hip replacement, and arthritis in one ankle means for me at least, stilettos are out.

Flatties are great and very fashionable, and more importantly....comfy.happy

 huh1 faint

Kidding aside, I just think the thickish rubber soles & heels on those boots probably wouldn’t be a good look with that dressy dress. Great colour, though! nod
If you want a splash of colour to pop, why not wear your purple beaded bag anyway?

And the dancing you plan on doing - it’s great to see you say that ☺️ 👏🏻
👏🏻 You’ve come so far this year. Enjoy!

@Red - not on tallish women. Also depends on the style of the flats. I’m 5’7“ and this is the kind of flats I wear most days in different colours 👇🏻 (if I’m not in my Chucks)
