Till someone speaks, even the most observant person could not be sure.
White people can be African, black people can be English....
clothes and mannerisms prove nothing.

No you can't be sure. Picking up on foreign vibes isn't scientific. It's like intuition. You don't know but your gut says this person isn't from around here..
What Maddog calls 'fashion' is simply a case of Texan herd mentality, where everyone does what everyone else does, and wears what everyone else wears. Sadly it means there's no individuality. I feel sorry for anyone born in Texas who doesn't fit in with local norms, and who's probably treated as weird as a result. Land of the free it surely ain't.

I think we can generalise, and all of us probably do sometimes.
For eg, I dont know any German people where I live, but when abroad, especially in Spain where like the Brits, Germans like to holiday, I do think the men from Germany are pretty easy to spot. The arrogance is one clue, but they also stare a lot at women, and not in a flattering way either.
In Manchester, anyone can be from anywhere, it's such a diverse city, until someone speaks, it's hard to tell where anyone is from really.

You should check out the Russians and Eastern Europeans who have been flooding into my area, buying up residencies right left and centre. In terms of arrogance, the women are second-to-none!
Entitled, classless nouveau riche 🙄 I find it very easy to turn my nose up at them.

That doesn't sound good, I hope they haven't spoiled the area for you. It's horrible when people move en masse into an area and try to take it over.

My mother was full blooded German and my grandmother went to church where only German was spoken.
I've never considered them arrogant, but stoic, aloof and reserved. Like your royal family. Wonder why that is.. 😉
And I haven't been on a beach in the Caribbean in years, but back in the day we could pick out European men with some degree of certainty by their speedo or whatever those banana hammock things were..🤷

Give them a break. They lived in a shit hole behind an Iron Curtain. They don't come from a life of privilege.
Do they all wear trainers, track suits and gold chains? 😉

Presumably your mum and gran were not men.
If they were still alive, they could be now if they wanted. 😉
My comments about my fellow krauts were addressed to both genders. Of course all the Germans I know are descendents of immigrants from years ago..Maybe the men stare more if they are from Germany as opposed to "German"?
Could be a European thing. I know Mexican men will do that. That's sorta down to their machismo though.
It's an overall impression I have gained over decades that German men....or men from Germany, at least the ones I have seen who go to Spain on holiday, stare at women, especially British women, obviously it's a generalisation, as all comments like this are.
I have to mention though, years ago on holiday when my son was around 10, like kids do, he started playing with another young lad who was German. The other lads' mum and dad...and I still remember their names, Wolfgang and Petra, they were such a lovely couple. They spoke no English we speak no German, yet for 2 weeks we remained friends, and even wrote to each other (with the aid of phrase books) after we had returned home.
I see Madonna is still wearing fur, what a hypocrite, she will do anything for attention.
Why is she a hypocrite? Is she vegan or animal rights activist?
Years ago she stopped shooting wild birds, and said...
"A bird dropped in front of me that I'd shot. It wasn't dead. It was really suffering. Blood was gushing out of its mouth. I haven't shot since. I realised that I had a kind of bloodlust and was manically shooting as many birds as possible."
Yet she will happily wear the fur of animals that have been killed in a most grotesque way....like I said, hypocrite

That's not being a hypocrite.
If I were to criticize her while wearing leather boots, belt, and a "felt" hat, all while eating a steak, that would be hypocritical..
To pretend to care about the welfare of animals and then wear fur, including the fur of unborn lambs, is the height of hypocrisy.
I don't think she really professed any care about animals. She just decided she no longer wanted any part of hunting them. I don't think she cares if anyone else does..
I'd say most people in the West now are about as hypocritical as her. They will eat KFC but hand them a live chicken and a knife and ask them to prepare that bird and all bets are off..

Yeah...but eating a burger is not like wearing the fur of endangered animals, or a coat that has needed hundred of animals to die in its making, or buying a fur coat when the fur has been obtained by ripping the unborn animal from the stomach of it's mother.
