Vam and Maddog will be used to the heat, I love it, but many don't. I just wondered what the ladies, and of course the men, wear in the searing heat, to keep cooler.

I hate it Syl, far too hot for me cry

I know...but you get your cold weather most of the year, the hot weather never lasts long.

Today I wore baggy, above the ankle, black and white striped pants and a black shoe string top...dead cool in the heat.

I love it. happy

The only alernative is a vest and shorts - and I'm sure not wearing a vest!

There's something a bit odd about a person who wears a vest in public other than for sports.

😉 Not quite like yours, but me too - shorts and sleeveless tees, around the house/on walks/supermarket runs.

Casual beach get-togethers/lunches - posher linen shorts and loose sleeveless silky tops.

Linen dresses and strappy sandals if I’m out at night.

Choices are overrated and stress people out.

That's why school uniforms take a lot of stress out of the morning school routine..

If I’m out and away from air conditioning, I always swear by this John Lewis portable fan. It’s the best one I’ve used - ever nod (and I’ve tried them all)

Yes I've got one of them aswell.  Not John Lewis, just online.  I use.it alot.

At night I bought a fan for on the beside table.  Much better than the big one I've got and with 5 settings it's a blast of fresh air wink

School uniforms equalise kids and  give them a sense of all belonging to the same 'club', so to speak. Which is good.

When we leave school, thank God we leave uniforms behind.

This is a vintage 1970s bellydance costume made by a famous Egyptian costumier, Madame Abla.  It's the only costume I kept.  It's a lovely fit and very flattering so unlike the modern lycra  costumes of today that are so fashionable.   Lycra is a very cruel fabric and you need to be very slim to wear it well.  Also, the tighter fabric doesn't show off the movements as well.  The trend in the dance today is overtly sexual which I hate.   This is reflected in the costumes.   I suspect men might beg to differ.

But that's just my opinion.

I agree, the 2nd costume looks a bit trashy.
Class wins every time, and you look gorgeous btw.  up

Lots of folks work in uniforms.

I don't, except one of my own design which is pretty much the same except its short sleeves about half the year and long sleeves the other half.

Always a pair of jeans although not always blue..

And because I do that I don't have to waste a bunch of time shopping..

90% of the shirts I wear are two brands and I buy them online.

As Thoreau said, simplify, simplify, simplify..

Some people gain no pleasure from clothes, they are functunal rather than pleasurable. I love the whole business of looking, buying, decidng what to wear and when to wear it.

You belong to the first group, me, the second.

I have a style, but it's not complicated.

It's been my experience that fashion can be stressful for a lot of women because they don't want other women to think they are tasteless ragamuffins.

It's also been my experience that women stressed out about style stress out a lot of poor innocent men who get dragged into the whole mess..

I did wear a uniform once. I worked in a new nightclub called The Zoo. The owner wanted the girls to wear a uniform, and he asked me to design one. So I did. A silky animal print two piece, strappy top, and mini rara skirt.

No resemblance to the school uniforms I was forced to wear.
