I have a feeling it's a pigeon that has nested with it's partner in the same tree for several years. Two of them used to sit on the branches in the Christmas tree, and they would build a nest every year.
A couple of months ago we noticed only one of them was there, have no idea what happened to it's mate.
Anyway, we will soon know if it's the remaining bird, because none will be up in the tree from tomorrow....

Please tell us and when you have a little time please tell us the story of your two nesting wood pigeons.  Also please elaborate what is meant by the "Christmas tree" (e.g. was this a fir tree growing in your back garden that you festooned with lights and baubles?)

🙋🏻‍♀️ I’d love to read about them too, please!

On a much sadder note, and given recent events, here’s a dilemma I’d never wish on any parent: If you discovered your son/daughter had committed a terrible crime, would you turn them in to the police?

Well I don't have any children so I will make that dilemma applicable to my mother and younger brother.

It depends on the circumstances, it has to. If I knew they had acted in self defence and there was no chance of the crime being traced to them probably not.  But that's a very forgiving unlikely set of circumstances. If they have committed a crime their DNA will be at the scene..they don't have criminal records (at least I flipping hope they don't!lol) But the police have so much tech on their side now that if you didn't turn them in, they would likely find them anyway.

I probably wouldn't turn them in though unless that was what they wanted.

Where is the son Chaka now? The facebook video 2 years ago of Queen Nandi taking an overdose was quite disturbing.
She seems a lot happier squatting in the woodland.

Oh well, they've been evicted now. Not before a bit of a scrap with a neighbour. Have to say, Asnat is proving herself to be a trusty and loyal handmaiden.

I know the locals wanted them gone, but to be honest if it was a toss-up between them and that harpy and her daughter, I know who I'd prefer as neighbours.

A new one.

I am going for my flu jab today, I refuse the Covid jab. I think I have had 3 or 4,I doubt I will have it again.

So do you have flu/Covid jabs? If you are vulnerable....which includes people with certain conditions and everyone over 65, we are advised to get the jabs. On the other hand so many people still don't trust the Covid jab, and swear the flu jab makes them ill.

Had my flu jab last week.  Won't ever have covid jab again.  I had to have it as I was going on a cruise and was told it was essential, no cruise otherwise.  Never had it since.

Never made me ill though.

I'm loathe to get it, to be honest.  But I have asthma so I may do.

I trust the flu jab more than the Covid jab.

Unfortunately, after I have the flu jab, I often wake up in the night with shivers, and feel rough for a day or two. We have booked a family meal out tomorrow night, so fingers crossed it won't happen this time.

You are only a couple of years away from being an old fart and needing your jabs, like the majority of us on here...so better make the most of still being a 'youngster'.

 We'll see.

My doctor asked me if I wanted one and I asked him what he thought and he shrugged his shoulders. So I looked at my nurse and she shrugged her shoulders. So I shrugged my shoulders and said I guess that's settled.

My doctor and I have a good relationship and we talk about such things every 3 months when I go. We're on the same page in terms of preventive stuff outside of pharmaceuticals..

He's more worried about things like A1C,.BP and cholesterol than jabs in healthy people..

We'll see what my cardiologist says next month..

I have only had flu 2 or 3 times in my life, and it's horrible. The last time I was really ill for around 3 weeks, my chest got infected, and I don't really want that again.

Plus I live in a cold wet part of the country, lots of people sneezing and coughing, so I think it's worth getting the jab.

The weather doesn't cause the flu, but being stuck inside with people coughing on you does..

What you had sounds more like bronchitis. I used to get that when I was younger.

In summary, habitual physical activity helps the body to prevent infection by the influenza virus. This benefit is equally effective in the elderly, obese, and other populations. Therefore, it is important to actively promote fitness for all and encourage regular participation in physical activity.

You should be huffing and puffing a few times a week. The good news is it doesn't take long when you're old..😎

Or sometimes it can take longer to huff and puff. I suppose it depends on what you are you doing.

Had it Friday.  I'm not sure as the fibro does this to me too. I had a bad day last week too.  At least once a week or so now. cry

Flu jab every autumn. No side effects, ever (touch wood!🤞🏻).

I’ve had 5 Covid jabs. It‘s clear none have implanted a sneaky little chip in my brain, because I’m still not buying sensible shoes… 😎
