I have never heard of 4Chan. But we have known some really horrible sites over the years, Dogs was one, Bitchfest another.
(knock on wood 🤞🏻) Can’t believe I‘ve been Whine posting for almost as long as I was at Dogs - 6 years.
Barely a turbulent glitch along the way. Well, apart from when Dawg is being a particularly obnoxious dick 😂
Those years go so quickly. I joined a forum (The Mirror) in 2007, unbelievable. It's a great way to have conversations (and arguments) with people you would never otherwise meet...(including Maddog)
Time flies by us, Syl.
I still believe there’s a niche for smallish well-moderated forums. Social media is just too vast, and I barely ever interact with it all. It does have its uses though, because I do read - a lot! And I learn a lot too.
But I prefer the familiarity of a forum where I can post around folks I’ve come to ‘know’ over a period of time.
Funny thing is, in all the years I was at Dogs I barely noticed Dawg - outside of the News section. I’m sure he barely noticed me either. BUT in the News section he would happily argue the toss (to the nnnnnnth degree, as usual!🤣) with the weird and alarmingly obsessive nutjob, Cactus Jack. Now that was stuff I truly loved to silently observe from afar 🍿 Who could have guessed I’d end up getting down in the weeds with him over here! 😂
(shoutout to Cactus Jack, if he’s looking - I get why you’d end up pretzel-shaped when ’debating‘ with Dawg )

Same as you, I don't post on any other social media....apart from every blue moon I may start a thread on MUmsnet and see it soar off, weeks later I might go back and it's still on topic, but tbh, the posters there swap and change their names so it's unclear who anyone is.
I prefer this sort of small gathering, we know each other, and even some of the anons are easy to spot, mostly nice too.
Coincidence....I was never aware of Maddog on Dogs either, I got to know him on Newsfix. (That was another good forum while it lasted)

Certain men on there ruled the roost, or thought they did. Can't recall their names.

The moderation was pretty good on there though, so whilst two or three misogynistic idiots thought they ruled the roost, they were pretty inconsequential really.

No, the other one. The pompous arse who was always arguing.

The only other one I can remember is Original Quill. I know he could be argumentative.
He referred to us, and a couple of other women as 'The mean girls', for some reason he called me a groomer.
Him and Maddog said some pretty cruel things to one another when they had a row. I didn't mind him, and sadly, I have been told he passed away a couple of years ago.

He was quite elderly as I recall. He was a miserable old git. I always got the feeling they really resented the women having an opinion.

They used to gather on a little secret part of someone elses forum, and call us rotten. I imagined them to be like...

Oh, that is sad to hear! I didn't know him very well but he was always very nice to me. In fact all of the posters on Netflix were lovely (that didn't descend from Dogs with an agenda)
Its a shame Newsfix didn't work out, it was a lovely debating forum but the arguing..It did Ben's head in.

I thought he was older. I didn't know you were on Newsfix Digs. He was quite cruel to Sassy.as I recall and although I didn't get involved, I didn't like that.
I wish I had posted on there more often . I don't recall Maddog being on there either. I must be having a turn because I remember so many other people, perhaps it was at a different time.
