 Mine too Vam. I remember hearing on the radio Princess Diana had been in a serious car crash. I got up and turned the TV on. He had been brought in especially to update the news as it came in. It was him who announced Diana had sadly died.... I stayed up all night listening to him cover the story.

He was a brilliant journalist and newsreader, and he also seemed to a very nice human being.

 Oh, I forgot he was the lead news presenter throughout most of that, Syl!  

In hindsight, I can’t imagine anyone better suited to anchor all those rolling news headlines at the time.

My hub had prostate cancer, gladly they caught it in time

I heard an interview this morning. He never strived to be an actor, he just fell lucky and the good parts kept coming. He sounded like a really down to earth, modest man.

 I can well imagine he was a gentleman; sometimes you can just tell. There was no arrogance about him, which many try to hide but fail.

 And yet he played creepy baddies really well.  He was horrible in Daybreakers and even worse in Event Horizon.   He had this almost reptilian quality.

Brenda Fricker has sadly passed away at the age of 81.
