Knife attacks on train

Nine people are reported to be seriously injured .
No official reports yet of who the two knifemen were, but eye witness accounts say one man was black dressed in black.
It seems that volence against the public is getting to be a weekly occurance.

10 people hospitalised - 9 have ‘life-threatening’ injuries.

2 arrests so far.

Another mindless depraved attack, another day that ends in the letter ‘y’….

Authorities are debating if this was a terror attack or not. The codeword 'Plato' - which refers to a terrorist attack - was used but then withdrawn.

What difference does it make either way? It was clearly terrifying for those trapped on a moving train with a knifeman running riot.

I always feel that the authorities try and downplay such incidents by putting too much emphasis on trying to show it wasn't an official terror attack, if that turns out to be the case.

Per the news conference a few minutes ago: 2 people now remain with ‘life threatening’ injuries. Hopefully, they’ll soon recover 🤞🏻

The 2 men arrested are being detained at separate police stations.

To be clear, one was of Caribbean descent, but both were born in Britain.

My hearts go out to the victims, every person in the vicinity must have been absolutely terrified.

The video of Iryna, the young Polish girl, who was stabbed to death on a train in the US recently is being played again everywhere ...it's one of the most horrendous things I have ever seen.

There is so much mindless hate around, something needs to be done before people are too afraid to live their lives normally.

I just want to point out that around 40% of Muslims in the UK were actually born in the UK. But it’s to be hoped that the police know what they’re doing in so quickly ruling it out as a terrorist attack. I do get why they’re doing that, but it does seem a little premature imo.

Even though one of the suspects is of ‘Caribbean descent’, who’s to say he may not have been radicalised ? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Radicalised lunatics come from all ethnicities and religious denominations. And who’s to say the ‘black’ suspect hasn’t converted and espoused extreme Islamist tendencies?

Or maybe they were simply a pair of hopped-up smackheads, just out on a mindless rampage. Time will tell, I guess…

The right wing media will have been having a field day saying they are not, but this announcement has thankfully stopped that.

Yes this is a tragedy for all involved but again people are jumping to all sorts of conclusions based on the currrent political climate

The only question is whether the knifemen were affiliated to a known terrorist organisation or not. If they weren't, it's just as bad as if they were - it shouldn't be such a massive issue imo as it creates the impression that it's 'not as serious' if they acted alone.

It will.

I think the police are a lot more aware of public feeling since the secrecy and misinformation over the Southport terror attack.

I agree with you, this attack was as terrifying to the people involved no matter what the motive behind it was.

Unfortunately some second generation Muslims don't seem to like the laws of this land.

Many of the younger grooming gang members were bred and born here.

Terrorism doesn't require some sort of an affiliation. It's about motive. If it's political or religious in it's motive, then it's usually called terrorism.

Jack the Ripper terrorized London, but he wouldn't fit the definition of terrorist..

No, it wasn't a terrorist attack.

The perpetrator was a 32 year old British man born in the UK not an asylum seeker. British people are capable of serious crime. The other man has been released without charge. I know you didn't have all the relevant information at the time so why automatically state it's an immigrant ??

Mags, you keep blaming Starmer for the immigration problem knowing it is the fault of the Dublin Convention so I will keep correcting you because it's unjust and untrue .

Whatever government happened to be in power, they would have to let these people into the country and house them. It's not Starmer's fault we left the EU. It's our fault.

However the public was blatantly misled by Boris Johnson and Farage who claimed that we would recover control over our borders if we left the EU. Instead we have totally lost control and are obligated by international law to house those who make that perilous trip by dinghy. The politician to blame for the fiasco is the figure head of the Brexit fiasco, Nigel Farage.
