I love the long Easter weekend and I cannot wait for it to start. My eldest is back from Uni for the holidays so we have a full house again which is lovely. I'm going to see if I can nick some of the kids' Easter eggs.

Happy Easter everyone happy

It would be funny if it wasn't so prophetic.

Pub quiz question: how many times in Queen Elizabeth II's 70 year reign did she deliver a televised Easter message to the nation?

Answers on a postcard please.

Happy Easter happy

 I don't know the answer without googling.wink

How many times did she deliver a ramadan speech instead of an Easter speech though?.

She did it once.  But she never, ever, issued any message for ramadan.

Yep, that's right. Only once in 70 years as Easter is reserved for private worship and Christmas is the public message.

Since her passing the Royal Family have tried to be more inclusive and that it is to their credit in my opinion. That includes addresses from Charlie to the Jewish community and the Eid one.

In my opinion there is a concerted efforts by usually US based Christian Nationalist movements to manufacture outrage using things like this to make the argument that the UK has fallen to Islam, and secure political objectives. I will consider that more on my usual family Easter walk...

I think, in the face of such 'consideration' for diversity etc, we must still include our own culture in all these speeches and celebrations.   If they suddenly decide to up the focus on Jews and Muslims then they better include us in that.
