😳 I’m hearing infuriated shrieks coming from a Spanish guy in a house across the way. Some of his expletives of choice are cabron! (asshole/bastard) and hijo de puta! (son of a whore), and one that’s a little too rich to repeat.

Hopefully, he’ll shut up now that Spain have just scored.

Can’t say I blame him, really. In my unknowledgeable opinion, if yesterday’s England team were playing today’s Spanish team, England would have won hands down.

Jarell Quansah's challenge was awarded a red card last night after his dangerous challenge, which looked a lot less severe than Balaguns, so now the FA is considering whether to appeal against that one.
Who next?

 They are. Obviously they are in Trumps pocket. 

I doubt anyone is rooting for the American team now, he must be so proud.

 I haven't seen or read anyone that doubted last night's card, nor anyone that supported Balogun's. At least no one that has played or refereed at the highest levels. Bob down at the pub doesn't count.  

 

Trump probably has cursed us though. The soccer gods will likely not be pleased.

 lol Best thing that could have happened really. If the US had won it would have felt tainted. In addition, Flo Balogun plays in Europe and I'm sure he doesn't want this scandal to follow him there or for the rest of his career.

It's a shame really. There were great scenes at the start of the World Cup with visiting fans saying how much they enjoyed being in the US, how nice the people are and loving the food. Trump and FIFA have managed to squander that goodwill to a large degree.

I think the pressure and sense of occasion got to the US. Nothing that playing more tournament football can't help deal with. Decent team, decent manager, a lot of positive signs. At least they didn't lose 7-1 like Germany have done before. 

The Spain v Portugal game was dreadful though. I might have had a little nap at one point it was so dull.

nod You would think so, Avon!  If he’d done what Red suggested upthread and made a conscious decision to withdraw from the game, this hoopla would have eventually died down, and he would be viewed as a player with the integrity to let his skills do the talking for him.

But does this look like a guy who’s thinking ahead and pondering the ‘bigger picture’? Uh, nope. Here’s a clip of his arrival yesterday. Sauntering in carrying his handbag and wearing his red rosary (because Jesus saves! Right?). Seemingly not a care in the world 🤷🏻‍♀️

Go figure! 🤣… I didn’t watch it either, Syl. These silly o’clock match times are brutal for me.

But I‘m definitely gonna try and catch a replay this afternoon. Even though I know the final score, I still want to kinda savour the moment trump/Infantino got their arses served up to them, courtesy of Belgium 😈

 Trump and FIFA just did what they always do. The goodwill of the American people has nothing to do with any of that. If there has been a reoccurring theme in this tournament its that we should never be judged based on our leaders.
