So my daughter just texted me. Her and my grand daughter are going to Norway vs Ivory Coast tomorrow. I told her to teach my granddaughter how to row like a viking.š
My daughter played for the same club as Clint Dempsey and knows the game inside and out.
My 5 year old grand daughter is a bit less knowledgeable, but was by a long margin the leading scorer for the Sparkling Unicorns last season..š
Ā ššš»šš» I bet her eyes will widen if she sees Haaland. Your daughter should tell her he lives in the magical land of Sparkling Unicorns š He certainly looks other worldly!Ā
Soooā¦that Brazil/Japan match - A Tale of Two Halves. But I really enjoyed itĀ

I hate penalty shoot outs, they make me feel too nervous. The Germany v Paraguay one was no exception....I feel drained.
Ā My youngest daughter (not the one going to WC tomorrow) always shot 5th. She never missed about a dozen of those. Several of those kicks ended games. Its draining watching strangers do it, and obviously on a the biggest stage there is.Ā
Ā
But even club and high school games will drain you when your kid likely decides winning and losing.
Ā
The funny thing is, she was cool as cucumber and like a machine. More relaxed than her parents, that's for sure..
Thankfully I have never had to watch son or grandsons take part in any penalty shoot outs....I don't think I could stand the tension.
They did other sports, OH played footie, son and grandsons were more into athletics.

Ā Hopefully they offered to buy him a beer. Then it's all good..š

Ā Oh yeahā¦it all seemed a very good-natured pisstake from the Brazilians. Not so sure about the blue mop headed guy though š Lovely photo of your girls! Hope they have a fabulous time. Iāll look out for them in the crowdĀ

Yeah, he got lucky with that flukey shot. But hey ā¦ š¤·š»āāļøĀ
Iām fascinated by this kid - thereās just somethingĀ unique and very special about him. Do you think he might be another Messi in the making?
Ā He's 25, so more lower middle aged than a kid in footballing terms.
He is breaking loads of goalscoring records, but the like of Messi, Pele, Cruyff, Best, Maradona etc were a completely different breed of footballer - all short men with a low centre of gravity. They were all prolific goalscorers as well, but also controlled matches with their breathtaking skills - they would bamboozle opponents and have fans on the edge of their seats - they were like magicians with a football.
Haaland isn't capable of doing that by a long way - he is goalscoring machine, but offers very little else, and you will often hear a commentator say 'Haaland has only touched the ball x amount of times' Then out of nowhere, wham, he will score. Just like tonight - where he contributed nothing before he scored.Ā
Ā I just saw replays. I thought that was a weird 'touch" but it worked so I assumed it was intentional..š¤·
Ā It was an open goal so couldn't really miss, but he under hit it and looked a bit concerned for a split second, but luckily it had enough on it to cross the line. It wasn't a proper strike how he would have meant it.

Ā Yep. That all makes sense, and I totally get why youāre making those comparisons. Iād be interested to know how youād compare Mbappe with the people you mentioned.Ā
From my laypersonās point of view, I always enjoy watching Haarland play. Thereās an almost serene smiley vibe there that I find endearing. Must be all the Yoga stuff heās into š

Mbappe is bubbling under to be an all time legend, and has potential to join that elite group. Not quite there yet, but not far off. He is the only one in the current crop who you could say that about.
Wow first half France V Sweden - France look like world beaters. One of the best 45 minutes I've ever seen from a national team
