Let's not get carried away here!

Haaland plays for Man City but there are rumours he will leave to go to Spain. Funnily, enough the English player he pushed (Elliot Anderson) has now also joined City so they will be team mates when the Premier League starts next month.

I feel a bit sorry for Haaland. He would have got away with that push in the Premier League as the foul occurred before the corner was taken, and was a dead ball situation. VAR would not have reviewed it. FIFA changed the rules for the World Cup this year to allow VAR to review fouls before the ball is kicked in set pieces. Instinct may have kicked in during the game and he thought it would be a similar outcome to a Premier League game.

I thought he just signed for like 9 years?

Yeah, last year but rumours are that now Pep has left Man City he is considering a move. Not sure if he has a release clause in his contract but I'm sure Real Madrid could find a way if they and Haaland really wanted it.

😂 I didn’t say I was going to fly to Manchester, kit myself out in the team colours, and go to their stadium to blow a vuvuzela and screech ‘C’mon you Reds!’ (or Blues? or Yellows?🤷🏻‍♀️)

I just said I’d quite like to see Haaland play some more, is all.

(expert football pundit hat, on wink)

Bizarrely, France were shite 🤷🏻‍♀️ Simple as that. In fact, I was lip reading their manager - he must have said “Merde!!” (shit!!) half a dozen times.

Espana were sublime.  Pedro Porro! happyQue golazo!happy(what a goal!) And I lip read a Spanish fan who was waving at the camera and yelling

Hasta pronto, Nueva York” (See you soon, New York)

And me? Looking forward to my supermarket run tomorrow - happy, smiling guys at the seafood and Ibérico counters 😎

I imagine winning the whole shebang would cast a glow over the entire country for a few weeks. Same as in England. The French would probably still be miserable,  lol..

While we didn't win it, and most folks who know the game knew there was little chance of that, we have enjoyed hosting it..

We may not be soccer fans but we are fans of soccer fans and the energy they brought..

We do have a Ritz, well we used to anyway, it was more 'grab a granny' night than classy accommodation for the well heeled.

Congrats on tonights match...Spain were brilliant.

Well, technically, I don’t qualify because I’m not a granny. But I’m sure I’d fit right in regardless! wwineg

Come on England! Tonight's the night, give the Argies the boot out of World Cup!

Viva España!

Strange team selection by Deschamps - he played his 4 man attack from the start and left himself short in the engine room, allowing Spain to dominate the midfield.

Then when he needed goals, he had no one to turn to on the bench, because his 4 best attackers were already playing! Pretty poor stuff to be putting all your eggs in one basket in a WC semi-final.

Should resign or be sacked imo.

Messi might be saving himself for tonight - of the ground he has covered, 47% of it has been walking.

The highest walk ratio of any player at the WC.

That is what we call a ball buster over here.

I think it's better to just get your ass beat than to lose like that..😕

I'm so gutted we lost. Story of a lifetime!

We defended very well, but really needed to get another goal.to secure the win.

We play France Saturday, come on England.

Argentina fouled their way through the first half, we played brilliantly, but no goals.

We scored in the second half, all was going well, then somehow the game switched, Argentina equaled and it was inevitable they would score again.

It's not coming home.cry

😔  I’m sorry you guys didn’t get the result you wanted, Syl.

I know England weren’t exactly angels in that first half. But the Argys took fouling to new levels!

I kept remembering what Red said about studs down on an ankle or leg, which could cause serious injury. I was honestly dreading a broken leg/concussion on prime English targets, like Bellingham or Kane.
