Very sad for England đ€Šđ»ââïž I really did dare to hope!Â
So now, it really does have to be down to Spain to hand those effin cheating thugs their arses on Sunday.
VAMOS!!Â
Â
 I hope so.Â
I feel this world cup has been rigged from the start. The refs all seem blind to blatant fouling....some of the decisions in the matches I have watched have been farcical.

I think we both posted simultaneously about the fouling. I replied to you - last post on the previous page, in case you missed it

We defended very well, but really needed to get another goal.to secure the win.
We play France Saturday, come on England.
Argentina fouled their way through the first half, we played brilliantly, but no goals.
We scored in the second half, all was going well, then somehow the game switched, Argentina equaled and it was inevitable they would score again.
Â
It's not coming home.
đ Â Iâm sorry you guys didnât get the result you wanted, Syl.
I know England werenât exactly angels in that first half. But the Argys took fouling to new levels!
I kept remembering what Red said about studs down on an ankle or leg, which could cause serious injury. I was honestly dreading a broken leg/concussion on prime English targets, like Bellingham or Kane.
 Ahh, yes I missed this.
I think England had to keep their cool, they were going down like ninepins, so they had to give a bit back or else they would have been completely overpowered by the dirty tactics.
I agree, I think it was a miracle every English player got off the pitch with their legs intact.
Having said all that, the match was anything but boring, even though the result (thanks to the cheating and the biased reffing) was not how it should have been.

The South Americans always play on the edge of the rules. I wouldn't say it was rigged as such, more like they have become experts at just about getting away with it.

I will bow to your superior knowledge of the game, but they really did get away with murder.
I agree about the last 20 minutes. It was inevitable they were going to score and win....we seemed to fall apart and they upped their game.
I did enjoy it though, in spite of the effing and blinding going on around me.
That's a wrap from North Texas. I'm glad that everyone had a good time, and I think most folks here are glad they did (there's a few assholes everywhere).Â
The better team won last night. I'm not overly disappointed as my expectation before the tournament was reaching the semi-finals.Â
However, it's frustrating that we reverted to type and attempted to defend a slender lead rather than kill the game off. We have tried this repeatedly in the past and failed repeatedly.

đ đđ»đđ» For me, the best World Cup overall presentation from pretty much every perspective - except for when đźđč Italia won (4 times đ)
Credit where itâs due. Your country is beautiful. Your vast, state-of-the-art stadiums are magnificent. Youâve perfected the art of service with a smile, which can make shopping/dining out in the US a fabulous experience.
Most importantly, and as Iâve always thought, Americans are among the most welcoming, friendly, generous-spirited, vibrant people Iâve ever personally encountered.
No wonder you got game, Dawg  I just wish you guys could finally purge that loathsome, squalid rabble of parasites currently squatting in Washington.

3rd place playoff will just be a sad England playing a sad France, or Loser v Loser.
Once you are out you should pack your bags and go home. The chance of glory has gone and it's a bit meh to hang around playing a meaningless match to see who comes third.
More money for FIFA though - TV rights, ticket sales, advertising etc

Respectfully, I would! I canât believe at least a couple of those fouls didnât result in Red Cards.
Meant to post this earlier for everyoneâs viewing pleasure, but I didnât want to spam the thread.Â
The Argys, âgetting away with itâ đ€·đ»ââïž (recommend muting the crappy music)âŠ.
Hi Vams. Yes I'm routing for Spain Sunday. I detest the Argies, they are a dirty team.
England still playing France Saturday. Come on England, hold your heads up and best France!
 They really are, Mags.
If you watch the clip I just posted, youâll get as seriously pissed off as I did đ Imho, England can definitely hold their heads up because they were up against  the most malicious rabble Iâve ever seen on a football pitch.

I saw that Vams, so dirty. I said that last night. Whistle not blown, nothing. Ref on their side! đ

I was a bit âđ«Șsay whaaaat??â at all those 11th hour changes too. But what the hell do I know đ€·đ»ââïž
No one I was with watching the game understood them either.
We will probably hear a lot about this stat in the years to come: "from Gordon's goal in the 55th minute to MartĂnez's goal in the 92nd minute England had 12% possession to Argentina's 88%. The only team with a lower percentage of possession in that same time frame at this World Cup was Qatar in the 6-0 loss when they were down to nine players (11%)."
Inviting wave after wave of pressure from a side with arguably the world's greatest player, hoofing it out and hoping for the best was never going to end well.Â
The Spanish are reporting that Jude told Messi the whole world knows heâs still there because the Argy team, and Messi especially, are protected. Jude then laughed at Messi and told him âRonaldo is better than you.â as he walked away. Followed by Messi immediately running to the ref to complain like a little DivaÂ

That's how South Americans have always played football - I posted further up that they are generally seen as 'dirty cheating bastards' and last night was a good example. They don't care about reputations and will do anything to win.
Apart from trying to gain an advantage with their dirty tricks, it disrupts the flow of the other team and winds them up, perhaps getting them to retaliate. Nothing pleases a South American more than getting an opponent sent off for retaliation.
Rigged would indicate that someone has been paid off, and I don't think that's the case. They will test the referee early on and see how lenient he is, then go about their work accordingly. The refs throughout the whole tournament have been letting a lot of things go, more than any WC I can remember, which of course suits the S Americans down to the ground.
