I was talking to my SIL's a few weeks ago about this, and they decided that if offside was allowed, that the scores would be 18-12 and the games far more interesting.

Messi schmessi - it’s been the Argentine goalie who’s been saving Argentina’s ass throughout the game. If they now equalise and it goes to Penalties, I sense Argentina will just about have the advantage.

 I just think it's funny that my daughters have to explain offside to their husbands. All 3 of my SIL's are excellent athletes and the oldest played professional baseball. But when soccer is on, those boys have to have the game explained to them by girls, lol.

Well, that's that.

I had no dog in this fight, but it appears the refs kept Argentina on a leash and didn't let them play dirty.

I just can't get excited about Spain winning either.

Well okay…I do feel some sympathy for Messi - seeing him so emotional and all 🤷🏻‍♀️

I expect the feeling will pass, as I recall all his and his team’s sneaky fouls and diva demands of the refs.

Well done Spain! I was cheering them on.

Argies are a dirty side. Pushing, grabbing, tugging shirts, one hit a player in the neck and jaw fgs! They played to get to the penalties at the end of extra time, they never had many strikes at goal. Never worked out, good, they lost.

The fight after the whistle blew was such bad form. All because they lost. They should be banned from international football, such bullies.

So when do ‘tactical fouls’ transcend into gratuitous assault and winning by sheer brute force? Why were they not sanctioned for unfurling that banner about the Falkland Islands after the England game? I thought the established golden rule is that the World Cup should always be apolitical.

The only fights between rival fans I’ve read about during this tournament have been when Argie fans attacked fans from other countries.

Sorry, guys, but (imo) they‘re a disgrace. Here‘s a short clip showing how ‘sporting‘ they were after last night’s final.

I saw this on youtube, it's appalling.  Why are they allowed to getaway with this bullying thuggish behaviour!  Horrible players, mocking us with banner, at least we won the Falklands war!

  They must be kicked out of next World Cup!

Congratulations to Spain, worthy winners. What a dull game though, and that half time show can only be described as football terrorism. 

Very unedifying scenes at the end of the game from sore losers Argentina.

 Did you catch any of the images showing the Argentine team pointedly turning their backs, as Spain were on the podium lifting the trophy? 🙄

Social media is on fire with demands that thugs like Fernandez & Paredes be banned from international football for life.

I’ve said all along that I know little to nothing about football. But I sure can relate to these pundits - even I can understand those stats they show in the first couple of seconds!

The tackle for Enzo's second yellow was sheer lunacy, and also quite spectacular!

 Yeah I saw that. Apparently the Argentinian players thought it was disrespectful that Spain celebrated at the end of the game. They must have the memory of a goldfish and how they responded when they beat England. Honking team, honking fanbase.

I don't know how Enzo Fernandez thinks he is going to come back to Chelsea after his antics at the World Cup. He's going to get booed all the way out of Stamford Bridge.

Really enjoyed this thread and hopefully let's do another one for the Euros.
