The Scots are definitely having a good time in Boston. I would have liked England to have played closer to the weekend here, because that's usually a traveling party too.

 I think the World Cup is a good advert for America. If you watch the news you would get the impression that the US is nothing but mass shootings and obesity. I guess that's to be expected as the news will overly focus on the negative but it does give a distorted impression of what a place is like.

Texas BBQ and a college football sounds lit to me, and I keep hearing about this thing called tailgating which is like a big party in parking lots before a game or something? Maybe the World Cup will show some people even in the US that they have it good. 

Finally can I tell you, one man to another, what the problem is with admiring an attractive woman. NOT A GODDAM THING.

 Spain had 74% possession, 2.29xG, 27 total shots, 7 SOT and 51 touches in the opposition box. They should have won that game comfortably but that's football I guess. 

Looking forward to the France v Senegal game tomorrow as along with Spain France are obvious favourites. However, I watched a few AFCON games and Senegal looked pretty good.

This is a baseball game and they basically commandeered our national pastime. By all accounts they started singing at the start of the game and never shut up. And everyone had the time of their lives..👍

Also WTF are the best games on at 2am UK time? 

I watched the highlights of the NZ v Iran game and it was fire.

 I think that's part of their charm. They aren't a great team, they know it and they don't care..They are going to make the best of it.

 

And I think Boston was a good fit..We don't have Scottish towns  because the  Scots pretty much went everywhere. Boston is still pretty Irish and I guess those folks are kindred spirits.

 

It wouldn't have been the same vibe in Seattle..

 I imagine you're about 9 hours ahead of LA..

 So you got Japan and the Netherlands? Outside of England they are two of my favourite international teams (the Dutch because of total / possession football and the Japanese because of the culture and particularly the food which I think is probably the best in the world.) 

Having visited both countries on more than one occasion they are both more insular than the Scots but good fun when you get to know them. Well, the Dutch are at least as the Japanese keep foreigners at a distance.

I'm quite jealous as I would love to have the World Cup in the UK. It is such a great event.

 I've always had a soft spot for the Dutch - Cruyff was a great role model for a kid - I tried to emulate him when I played for my school, but failed miserably! As an Arsenal fan, Bergkamp was the best player I ever saw, not just for Arsenal, but for anyone, including Henry.

I loved the Dutch total football back then, whereby any outfield player could play in any position. Cruyff gave the best advice as well when playing against 10 men - man mark all 9 outfield players, but give your spare player, the most creative, free rein to do what he wants, and he will cause havoc!

One of my favourite WC goals ever. Bergkamp scoring the 90th minute winner V Argentina in the 98 quarter-finals. What an occasion - the skill involved. a massive crowd going mental, the traditional team colours, and a crazy commentator!

No doubt the Japanese are insular and the Dutch a little stand off-ish, especially by Texan and now Scottish standards.

 

If by some  weird twist we were to get the Scots and Aussies in a quarter or semi we might run out of beer and whiskey..
