Pretty much.

Ghana played the low block and were successful. It doesn't always work out as you say. They were defensively very solid and maybe they thought they could nick a late goal like they did with Panama.

We lacked creativity and were overly cautious. As I said before I wished we had a stronger team in our group as it's still hard to know if we are decent or just bang average. Time will tell I guess.

Watching some of yesterday’s match, I was wondering if Vic may have been watching Scotland playing too. I hope she’s doing okay.

The things she used to come out with, especially when she posted Scottish slang, often used to have me doubled up with laughter. And she was always happy to explain some of the words/sayings whenever I asked (which was VERY often! 😂)

The only 2 parts of my Dogs days I still miss, were Maddog and Cactus Jack going at it hammer and tongs in the News section 😂 and Vic stubbornly arguing the toss with Trapper John in the Football threads 🤣 He used to drive her nuts with his sarcasm, and each time he posted a single negative word about the Scottish teams, I almost used to duck for cover!

Well done Ecuador - I've never seen so many tears at a football match before - it seemed like their entire fanbase were crying their eyes out!

That was a high tension match - not quite as bad as when Colombian Andres Escobar was shot 6 times in the head for scoring an own goal - but you never know what's going on behind the scenes with the South Americans and all the cartels and gambling stuff.

The one I’m really looking forward to today, is Erling Haaland’s Norway v France (ITV1 8pm)

And I’ll probably manage to stay up for Uruguay v Spain (ITV1 1am)…..hello insomnia again 🤦🏻‍♀️

I spent the last 20 minutes of the Ecuador match hiding behind my sofa waiting for the inevitable Germany equaliser, which never came. Absolute scenes in the stadium when the ref blew his whistle at the end of the game, and not a dry eye to be seen.

I'm looking forward to Norway v France tonight as well. Haaland v Olise (who is arguably the best player in the world at the moment) is going to be lit. Brazil v Japan next Monday should also be one of the games of the tournament.

Also, after seeing numerous clips of visitors trying ranch dressing in the US for the first time I popped out to Waitrose to get a bottle. I think I have had it before when I was in the States but it doesn't stick out in my mind.

I will report back with my findings when I try it...

Brazil V Japan looks very tasty on paper and an excellent start to the k/o rounds. The Japanese fans have probably been the most colourful with their outfits and face paint.

Should we be calling them Brazil or Brasil though? Turkey have suddenly become Turkiye, to avoid 'bird associations'

More or less. I think it also has mayo which would include eggs and oil, but don't hold me too that. My mom made it years ago when people still did that sorta thing. I'm a basalmic vinegar and oil kind of a guy anyway.

France v Norway..the first half was brilliant, I lost interest half way through the second half.

I wonder why they didn't play Haaland, he may have turned it around.

I'm more of a dressings dinosaur - sour cream, salsa or guacamole is all I need in Tex Mex restaurants. There used to be something called 'loaded potato skins' which were delicious dipped in those.
